STEPHANIE ROCHE was one of many online viewers who scoffed at Takumi Minamino’s effort in a skills challenge on TV.
The Liverpool signing appeared on Japanese game show Honoo-no Taiiku-kai TV.
Previous sports stars to make guest appearances on the show include Ronda Rousey, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
However, Minamino’s display garnered a mixed reaction online.
Irish international Stephanie Roche was one of the crowd who were firmly underwhelmed by it.
She retweeted Soccer AM’s video of it and wrote: “Is it just me or is this not actually very impressive at all? ”
CLARIFICATION
Unsurprisingly Roche, a keen Man United fan, received some flak from Liverpool supporters for criticising their new player.
She clarified in a follow-up tweet that she was not slating his ability overall.
She wrote: “Why do all Liverpool fans think it’s an attack on Liverpool? Can you not admit it’s an awful video?
“I’m not saying he’s a bad player because of it, he doesn’t look like he wants to even be there.
“It’s the fact that it’s been tweeted as ‘very impressive’ when it’s clearly not.”
BETTER MOMENTS
Minamino did demonstrate his obvious quality in an encounter against Liverpool this season in a Champions League group game.
He famously duped Virgil Van Dijk with a brilliant fake that left the Dutch centre-back on the ground.
Additionally, he scored a superb volley to get his side back into it in a game that wound up finishing in a very entertaining 4-3 win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
